Brooke Mierins is an artist based in Ottawa, Ontario. She is currently pursuing her fine arts education at the Ottawa School of Art. Brooke works in multiple disciplines: she has studied photography and drawing since grade school and began painting in 2020. Her pieces primarily focus on Canadian landscapes, inspired by her life in the Ottawa region and her travels throughout the country. 

She has always had a deep reverence and appreciation for nature, which eventually led Brooke to pursue a degree in biological science. Through her studies, she came to realize that her inclination toward the natural world would not be fulfilled by the scientific process. She found that biology in academia was rigid and stifling; while art provides an outlet to explore the aesthetics, emotions and spirituality of the environment. In her work, Brooke aims to capture the feeling of being outdoors in the open air and provoke reflection on the present environment.
